Perro
A bold, characterful website for an independent Birmingham restaurant, designed around food, atmosphere and making it easy to book a table.
Perro is an independent restaurant in Birmingham with a distinctive, playful identity.
With no existing website, the project was an opportunity to create its online presence from the ground up, bringing the personality of the restaurant to the web while giving customers a simple way to explore the food, find essential information and reserve a table.
Background
Perro needed a digital home that felt as distinctive as the restaurant itself. Without an existing website, the project started from a blank canvas, creating an online presence that could introduce the restaurant, showcase its food and give customers all the information they need before visiting.
The website needed to capture Perro's playful personality without getting in the way of the practical reasons people visit a restaurant website; checking the menu, finding opening times, getting directions and, most importantly, booking a table.

Challenges
The challenge was finding the right balance between personality and practicality. Perro has a bold, quirky brand and the website needed to feel unmistakably theirs, rather than falling into the familiar template of a restaurant website.
At the same time, the experience couldn't become style over substance. Booking a table needed to remain one of the clearest actions throughout the site, while menus, opening times, location and contact information all needed to be effortless to find.
Approach
The design takes its cues from Perro's existing identity, using oversized typography, expressive layouts and food-led imagery to create a site with plenty of personality. Rather than treating photography as decoration, imagery forms a major part of the experience, helping the food and atmosphere of the restaurant do much of the talking.
The structure was kept intentionally simple. Key content is surfaced directly on the main page, including menus, information about the restaurant, opening times and location details, while reservation calls to action appear at natural points throughout the experience.
The result is a website that feels visually distinctive while still being straightforward to use — particularly on mobile, where many customers are likely to be deciding where to eat or booking a table on the move.
Results
The new Perro website is currently in development ahead of launch. Once live, it'll give the restaurant its first dedicated online presence and a central place for customers to discover the food, learn more about Perro and book a table.
